New stuff in the photo department

November 2010

Ahhhh....At last! I'm now reunited with a long lost friend. We met in canada. It was a tempestous relationship. She is lightning-fast, and jet-black and exceptionally receptive to even the slightest light. unfortunately, one of my friends came between us. He took her with him, when the week of salmon fishing was over, and she was once again his....Now she's back with me. My dear body.

I rarely have time to go for at walk with the camera, but this autum I had a magical morning with the long lenses. So soft and vulnerable, the autumn. Brilliant colours and a dewey subtle morning charm. Nothing quite stirs the inspiration like autumn. Some of the more abstract shots are tilted, I simply haven't figured out how to make them stand straight in this silly webpage form. Sorry about that guys, tilt your mac instead;-)

A few new pics are now available in the section salmon fishing in Canada. A great trip -  and I even managed to catch a couple.

Turbot fishing from the shore. Ever heard of it? I bet not, unless you have read the articles in Sportsfiskeren last year. This fishing has taken us with storm. No wonder. When you see a turbot the size of an old fashioned vinyl record come up and swallow the bait in a gulp, your soul is sold.
We fish these magnificent predators in the rolling waves right along the shore with dead sandeel or bait strips. The most spectacular thing is, that when the water is clear, you usually see the fish follow the bait and snatch it right in front of you. No one in the angling community had ever heard about it, until the articles came out. We have caught fish up to near the 3 kilo mark, but fish over five kilos have been spotted and found dead. The article in Danish here:

Recognize this profile?
Spent a couple of days with Claus Eriksen in the pursuit for coastal sea trout and good photos for a new article series for Sportsfiskeren and Chasing Silver. Claus is the closest thing we will ever get to a fishing machine. Except he can smell fish that are swimming around hundreds of metres away. You can't ever train machines to do that... Uncanny, but a good lesson. you have got something to look forward to when the article comes out around autumn...

Okay, I am beginning to lose faith, here. But I am proud to say that I can help my fellow citizens in the angling community...The Storå up-till-now-record is still naggin' me.

Jeez! those springers are hard to lure this year. I've been at it for some days now, and the photo gear has had a rest. That's how salmon fever affects me. I can't even take the time to photograph what I see, because I am chasing the silver with single-minded obsession. But check out the salmon that Michael Ejstrup Nielsen caught. I was lucky enough to photograph it. Perfect shape and silver shimmer. Just beautiful!

Hang on!
New stuff is coming up soon. I, along with almost half the fishing community is looking forward to the Salmon opening day, april 1st. Until then, I have to make do with a photo of the big guy I lured last year;-)
